Frequently asked questions
Is Scribbler free?
The free plan transcribes up to ten minutes of audio a day, with every feature, no time-limited trial and no card. Pro removes the limit, with a subscription or a one-time purchase, and the App Store shows the price in the local currency.
Which languages does it recognize?
The ones Apple's speech recognition supports on iOS 26, with the best results on widely spoken languages such as English, Italian, Spanish, French, German and Portuguese. Translation covers more languages, and the app shows which ones are available from the language of the recording.
Does it need an internet connection?
Not to transcribe. A connection is only needed the first time a language is used, to download its pack.
Do I need an account?
No. Scribbler has no sign-up and no login.
What data does it collect?
The audio stays on the device, and transcripts sync only through the user's own iCloud. Crash reports come in through Firebase and are used to fix bugs. Usage statistics stay off until they are turned on, at first launch or in Settings. The details are in the privacy policy.
Does it work on iPad?
Yes. On iPad the library and the document sit side by side, and transcripts sync with the iPhone through iCloud.
What does it need?
iOS 26 or later, on an iPhone or iPad that supports on-device speech recognition. On devices that don't, Scribbler says so and doesn't offer the Pro purchase.
How does it compare with other apps?
